Situp Med Ball Throws

Position: Seated on the floor or on a situp board/ladder, knees bent at 90 and feet secured under bench or other stable equipment. Hold medicine ball with two hands, chest high.

Movement: From a laying back position, situp and toss the ball to a partner.

Coaching points: 1) Throwing the ball against a wall requires too much timing. 2) Do not throw the ball until you are past a 90 degree angle with legs and torso. Throwing early prematurely removes the resistance. 3) Actually think toss, not throw. Sitting up creates enough momentum that a throw (chest pass) can be hard for the partner to handle. 4) The partner tosses the ball back so that the individual can easily retrieve it.

Variation: The partner can return toss the ball by tossing it "around the clock."

Various positions around the frame of the individual. If this is done, the ball is to be caught with two hands, not one.
