Athletic performance involves a comprehensive strategy. Here’s a simplified guide to making athletes excel in their sports.

There are two fundamentals we can't skip.

1. Fitness / Conditioning: The Foundation

  • Why it matters: Fitness is the bedrock of all athletic skills. Fatigue lowers skill levels and precision; staying in top physical shape combats this.

2. Speed Training: The Competitive Edge

  • Importance: Speed separates levels. There is no answer for speed except more speed.
  • Objective: Improve quickness and agility to go a long with top end speed. The quicker you can get to fast, the more unstoppable you are.

Tailoring Training to the Sport

Specificity of training is where your program will have a greater impact, for example:

  • Baseball/Softball: Unique demands for running arcs or curves, especially in base running, requiring agility and technique.

High School Athlete Training Regimen

For high school athletes committed to excelling, a structured six-day-a-week training schedule is recommended in the summer.

  • Monday-Thursday: Focus on running drills to enhance speed and agility. We do weights as well.
  • Friday: Dedicated to strength training (weightlifting, plyometrics) without running, focusing on muscle strength and explosiveness.
  • Saturday: Track day for working on distances from 100 to 200 meters, honing speed and endurance.
  • Rest Day: Sundays are for recovery. Rest allows you to absorb the training. 


Elevating an athlete's performance requires a nuanced approach, understanding their sport, role, and physical needs.

A blend of conditioning, speed training, and sport-specific agility, along with mastering essential movements like the first step, forms the foundation of a superior training program.
